Nein. Mit seinen Füßen kann David heute sicher nicht laufen. Und wir sind alle ziemlich platt. Also muss eine andere Lösung her. Michael, ein Bekannter von Kathrine, hat uns also aus Mitleid heute morgen mit dem Auto mitgenommen da es mal wieder in Strömen geregnet hat. Das bedeutet das wir heute ehrlich gesagt garnicht gelaufen sind: Pausetag!
Nope. With his feet full of blisters, David is unable to walk today, and the rest of us are pretty exhausted as well. There has to be a different way today. Luckily, Michael - a friend of Katherine's - drove us to Cahersiveen this morning out of pity, because it is raining again. This means we get to spend a day in Cahersiveen without even walking: Break-Day!
So haben wir heute wirklich nur einen schoenen entspannten Tag in der Stadt Cahersiveen vor uns. Nachdem wir unsere Rucksäcke im Sive Hostel abgestellt haben, wo wir heute nächtigen werden, bummeln wir zuerst einmal die einzige Strasse entlang und suchen uns ein hübsches Café wo wir vor dem Regen fliehen. Wir setzen uns in Helen's Coffee House und schauen dem Regen zu, während wir Scones essen und Kaffee trinken. Wir haben zwar eigentlich vor nicht allzu langer Zeit gefrühstückt aber: nichts tun macht hungrig.

We spent a very relaxed day in the town of Cahersiveen. Leaving our backpacks at Sive Hostel, where we will stay tonight, we walk down the mainstreet looking for a nice café where we can hide from the pouring rain. We sit down in Helen's Coffee House and watch the rain outside the window, while we're eating scones and drinking coffee. True, we did just have a great breakfast at Katherine's but: doing nothing apparently makes you hungry!
Durch Cahersiveen kommt heute eine Charity-Radtour auf dem Ring of Kerry durch, 9000 Radlern kommen vorbei also war richtig was los im Ort und über Lautsprecher an jeder Ecke wurde Musik gespielt, von traditionell irischer Musik bis Pop-Musik aus den Charts war alles dabei. Und zwar den ganzen Tag!
Today there is a charity cycling tour on the Ring of Kerry, 9000 bikers will come through Cahersiveen today, so the town is very busy. There is music being played over speakers on ever corner, traditional irish music and charts alike. All day!
Um nicht ganz aus der Uebung zu kommen sind Anna und Iris zum Ballycarbery Castle gewandert (ca. 8 km insgesamt). Ja, das ist das Schloss aus dem Film Leap Year - zumindest behauptet der Film das. Und wir wollten uns das doch mal genauer ansehen. Ist aber ein anderes Schloss, die haben im Film nur die Geschichte geklaut. Hollywood... David blieb im Hostel und schonte seinen Fuß. So ganz ohne Gepäck zu laufen ist schon sehr angenehm.

In order to not get out of practice, Iris and Anna walk to the ruins of Ballycarbery Castle, which is about 8km all together. Yes, that IS the castle mentioned in the movie 'Leap Year' - so we wanted to take a closer look. Bt it actually is a different castle, they just took the story. Hollywood accuracy... meanwhile David stayed in the hostel, giving his feet some rest. Walking without the backpack was very nice, by the way.
Am Abend gibt es Spaghetti, heute haben wir sogar etwas Hackfleisch für die Bolognese und leckeren Parmesan. Danach sitzen wir noch etwas im Gemeinschaftsraum, schauen Indiana Jones und dann eine Britische Gameshow die wir nicht ganu verstehen... aber spannend war es schon. Und wenn Iris mitgemacht hätte dann hätte sie drei richtige Zahlen im Loto gehabt! Danach gehen wir auch schon ins Bett. Es wird immernoch Musik gespielt...
In the evening we have spaghetti, with meat for bolognese this time and with very goot grated cheese. Afterwards we sit in the common room, watching Indiana Jones - Raiders of the Lost Ark and afterwards a british game show that we don't entirely understand... but it's very interesting. And if Iris had played, she would have had three correct numbers in the national lottery! Afterwards we go to sleep and there is still music outside...
Morgen haben wir eine echte Hammer-Strecke vor uns aber mit Möglichkeiten abzuküren, wir werden also mal sehen was da auf uns zu kommt...
Tomorrows way will be quite tough but there should be possibilities to shorten it. We'll see what's ahead of us then...
